Come and hang out at The Cube at QUT on Friday 5 September and listen to incredible presentations by some of the world’s leading science and technology thinkers.
There’s John Pickrell — science writer, nature lover, self-confessed geek and editor of Australian Geographic magazine. He’ll challenge the way you think about birds and dinosaurs in his new book Flying Dinosaurs: How fearsome reptiles became birds. Like, did you know a dinosaur fossil dug up in China in 1996 was a ranga? Oops, we mean a red-head.
Science fiction author Sean Williams who has a massive 80 short stories and 40 award-winning novels to his name will also be there. And writer-designer-director and award-winning game author Christy Dena returns to The Cube after being the first ever person in Australia to be granted a Digital Writing Residency for her project ‘Robot University’.
The Cube, at QUT’s Gardens Point campus, is one of the largest digital learning and interactive display spaces in the world. Come and ‘Geek out at The Cube’. Awesome!
But if Modern History is more your thang … head along to ‘Conflict’ at the University of Queensland’s Art Museum in St Lucia for the day.
Authors Morris Gleitzman, Jackie French and David Hunt will be there to talk history, with guided tours of the Conflict: Contemporary responses to war exhibition.
