There are still tickets available for the Brisbane Writers Festival Word Play program for school-aged children in Grades 4–10.

Word Play runs from 3–5 September at the State Library of Queensland precinct with author and illustrator talks guaranteed to inspire.

Kids can meet their favourite authors, ask lots of crazy questions, and get their books signed.

We’ve got 30 artists and illustrators coming, including Andy Griffiths, Isobelle Carmody, Jackie French, Catherine Jinks, Tara Moss and Sean Williams as well as father-and-son team Michael Gerard Bauer and Joe Bauer — just to name a few.

While some events have already sold out there are still seats available for ‘Loyal Creatures’, a stage adaptation of Morris Gleitzman’s  powerful story of a 16-year-old volunteer and his horse in WWI, and the journey towards his own kind of bravery.  Or join Jackie French at ‘Dancing with Dinosaurs & Wombats’ as she talks about the power of a book to take you anywhere.

Tickets cost $8 for a single session, or $21 for a day pass.

To book, download the booking form from our website www.bwf.org.au, fill it out and email it to wordplay@bwf.org.au, or ring 07 3255 0254 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm) and we can do it for you.

For teen and young adult readers, check out Love Ya! at the Brisbane Square Library on Saturday afternoon (6 September) featuring Laini Taylor, Isobelle Carmody, Sean Williams, Ananda Braxton-Smith and Wil Kostakis just to name a few. It’s a FREE event — just register on the day.
